Project goal

The city of Medellín, Colombia, hosts one of the world’s most famous Christmas light displays known as El Alumbrado Navideño (The Lighting of Medellín). It is the city’s largest tourist attraction, visited by millions every year. For the 2024 edition, public utilities company EPM aimed to push the boundaries of festive lighting by creating a record-breaking, smart LED installation along the Medellín River path.

Our approach

To bring this ambitious vision to life, 800,000 Twinkly Pro smart LEDs were installed on a colossal vertical structure measuring 800 meters in length and 10 meters in height (2,625 x 33 feet). Powered by 667 controllers, the entire setup was seamlesslymapped into one LED wall using the Twinkly Pro mobile App and suspended in the middle of theriver. The ultra-vibrant, animated screen showcased a magical world of custom-designed imagery on an unprecedented scale.

The results

The Medellín Christmas light display set a new milestone as the largest Twinkly Pro powered LED installation to date. It captivated millions of locals and tourists, reinforcing Medellín’s reputation as one of the world’s premier holiday light destinations. We are honored to have contributed to such an iconic and cherished event.
